After a dozen cat fights, two dozen fist fights and three dozen expletives hurled about,BigBoss finally has a winner - Vindu Dara Singh, the son of the legendary wrestler-turned-actor Dara Singh.
After staying in the Bigg Boss house since October 4th without having any contact with the outside world, Vindhu won a prize money worth Rs 1 crore and beat out veteran actress Poonam Dhillon model Pravesh Rana. The 45-year-old Vindhu is a struggling actor, he had made his film debut back in 1994 and he hopes his Bigg Boss win wouly provide a boost to his career. He earned a lot of fans for his bouts of anger in the reality show and also for his plotting and planning against the other contestants. The finale was hosted byAmitabh Bachchan and featured performances by evicted contestants Raju Srivastav, Claudia Ciesla, Kamaal Rashid Khan, Sherlyn Chopra, Shamita Shetty, Tanaaz Currim and Aditi Govitrikar.
An ecstatic Vindu was accompanied by his wife and child on stage as he beamed with the trophy and suitcase filled with the prize money in hand. "We all had left behind our families and peaceful lives outside to enter the Bigg Boss house. Although we were competing in a game, we lived like a complete family filled with unique characters and had moments of joy, sorrow and anger. It was indeed another life, a novel experience and we all gained a lot from it. I am extremely delighted in having been chosen the winner. It is a humbling experience, All I can say is thank you for liking me enough to make me a winner," Vindu said after the win.
Incidentally, he received maximum votes from the public but his father Dara Singh never voted for him. "'Yeh SMS karna bachchon ke liye hota hai' (Sending SMS votes is all for kids). I haven't sent any vote for Vindu. Our relatives and friends have sent votes for him," Dara Singh said. Vindhu played the role of Lord Hanuman in the serial "Jai Shri Hanuman" like his dad in the super-hit Doordarshan serial "Ramayan". H was also seen in serials like "Ssshhhh...Koi Hai" and "Karma" and in a Punjabi movie "Rab Dian Rakhan" (1996), which was directed by his father. Recently he appeared in bit roles in "Kambakkht Ishq" and "Partner".
Even though he didn't vote for his son, Dara Singh hopes Vindhu's career gets a boost. "I don't think Vindu has got many opportunities to show his acting calibre. He played Hanuman in 'Jai Shri Hanuman' for which he is remembered, but I always tell him to keep trying. Being in a famous show like 'Bigg Boss' will be very advantageous for him, but even if that doesn't work in his favour, I believe he should keep trying," he said.
